What is Malaherb?
Malaherb is derived from the herb Cryptolepis sanguinolenta, which has been used in traditional medicine for treating uncomplicated malaria. This extract has been standardized to guarantee that the recommended dosage aligns with the preparation's original standards for maximum effectiveness.
Does Malaherb have unpleasant side effects?
Ill effects have not been observed. Some reports of drug-induced headache have been made but this has been difficult to substantiate since profound headaches are usually associated with malaria. The concurrent use of paracetamol or another analgesic/antipyretic could be beneficial. No adverse effects have been reported in pregnant patients treated with this medicine. However it is not recommended for use in pregnant or breast-feeding women.
What is the recommended dose?
The medicine is to be taken 3 times a day for 3 days.
Adult : 2 tablespoons 3 or 4 times a day.
Children : 1 tablespoon 3 times a day.
It is recommended that the medicine be taken before meals as it has been observed that Malaherb has appetite stimulating effects in some patients.
Do not take Malaherb
- If you are allergic to Cryptolepis or to any similar herbal medicines.
- If you currently have or have ever experienced a condition that impacts the liver.
- If you have experienced any unexplained abnormal results in blood tests related to liver function.
Should the medicine be stored in a fridge?
Store in a cool dry place. The drug sediments on standing for long periods and the bottle should be well shaken before measuring out a dose.
